Now called journaling, It’s basically writing down your thoughts and feelings to understand them more clearly. But now we are given prompts which makes writing how we feel seem simple as it should be. And if you struggle with stress, depression, or anxiety, keeping a therapeutic journal can be a great idea. Recording how you feel daily in your journal can help you gain control of your emotions and improve your mental health.

Extensive research has been done on the benefits of journaling. One of the best ways of dealing with any overwhelming emotions is to find healthy ways to express yourself. Journaling can help you:

  3. Cope with depression

Journaling can help you control your symptoms and improve your mood by:

  1. Helping you prioritize problems, fears, and concerns

  2. Tracking your symptoms daily in so that you can recognize triggers and learn ways to better control them.

  3. It provides an opportunity for positive self-talk and identifying negative thoughts, feelings and behaviors

Some days you may feel so stressed and overwhelmed with a problem you’re facing keeping a journal will help you identify what’s causing that stress or anxiety. Once you’ve identified your stressors, you can work on a plan to resolve the problems and reduce your stress.

So now we know the great benefits of journaling. I would like everyone to Keep in mind that journaling is just one part of living a healthy lifestyle and better managing stress, anxiety, and mental health conditions. I truly believe in order to get the most benefits, it would a great idea to include these in your daily routine:

  1. Relax and meditate each day.

  2. Eat a healthy, balanced diet.

  3. Exercise regularly—get in some activity every day.

  4. Treat yourself to plenty of sleep each night.

  5. Stay away from alcohol and drugs.

Use your journal to make sure you follow these guidelines daily and your set for better mental health.
